An Introduction to Butterfield Park District

Butterfield Park District serves 10,000 residents of unincorporated Lombard, Glen Ellyn, and Downers Grove, as well as non-residents from surrounding communities.

The district was established in 1965 and currently owns 45 acres of land. The district has one main facility and two off-site locations at Butterfield School and St. Thomas Church, where pre-school and before- and after-school programs are held.

Amenities at this location are as follows: two activity rooms, a meeting room, gymnasium, two outdoor pools, locker rooms and family changing bathrooms, the administration office, sand volleyball courts, seven tennis courts, and a picnic shelter and picnic areas.

The five board members and staff meet at the park board meeting the second Thursday of the month at the Recreation and Aquatic Center.
