The Art of Felting: Felting for the Holidays
Felted wool is humanity's first fabric, and a wonderful medium for artistic expression. Felting is an ancient art form that actually pre-dates weaving, and is amazingly simple; wool (or roving) fibers are matted together to bind into a fabric with either a wet (soap and water) or dry (barbed needle) process. In this exciting workshop you'll learn both techniques while work with a luscious palette of roving colors. Students will start by learning to make solid felt balls and move on to felting around a rock to create a doorstop. Once these 2 basic techniques have been mastered, students will have the choice to create an adorable felted snowman or felted jewelry.
