Welcome to the 2011 season of Butterfield Bullfrogs

Swimming and Diving Club

While snow is on the ground, preparation has been ongoing for the 2011 Bullfrogs swim season. The club along with the Park district surveyed past participants as well as observing closely the 2010 season. We watched and listened with an open mind and will be implementing several improvements to the club. Some of which are as follows:

Later Practice Times- Age 13 and up 7:00-8:15am

• Age 9-12 8:15-9:30am
• Age 8 and under 9:30-10:15am

One Fee-$135 includes practices, meets, coaching, most social activities, pool pass, and team gift. There still is a sibling discount $115 for each additional sibling. There is not a non-resident fee nor is there a fundraising requirement.

Competitive Swimmer Discount-Swimmers who swim for a competitive swim club in the summer are welcomed and encouraged to swim for the Bullfrogs. Only requirement is to attend one practice per meet and attend most meets.

JR. Bullfrogs Swim Team-Program for those not quite ready to make that full commitment or just looking to be introduced to the sport and team atmosphere. Participants will receive instruction by the Bullfrog coaching staff. The program will meet M, T, TH from 9:30-10-15am beginning June 13. Fee $70

Swimming Stroke Clinic(s)-An excellent opportunity to receive more personalized attention for specific strokes and swim skills. Work on the four strokes -freestyle, backstroke and starts, butterfly and turns, breaststroke and turns, conference preparation. Instruction will be provided by the Bullfrog coaching staff. Black and Gold Meet-An in-house meet held prior to the dual meets. It will be a great opportunity for the swimmers to experience meet like conditions, parents to become familiar with the various volunteer positions and just a chance to socialize and have fun.

Online Registration-Participants can now sign up online utilizing the Park District’s new registration system. Registration is ongoing. There still is a parent meeting which is required. This will be May 2 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Recreation Center. At this meeting you will meet the coaching staff, become familiar with specific information regarding the season, sign up for volunteer commitments at the meets along with other pertinent information.

Communication-Continuing last season’s efforts, a biweekly swim team newsletter will be distributed electronically utilizing Constant Contact. This will also be posted on the Park District website along with other team information including weather updates. Twitter and Facebook will also be used to increase our ability to communicate more effectively.

Afterschool practice begins May 23 4:00 and 5:00pm (specific groups will be assigned in late April/early May)

Morning practice begins June 13

First conference dual meet Saturday June 11

“B” conference meet Saturday, July 23

“A” conference meet Saturday, July 30
