Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks for your interest in our volunteer program! By joining the Helping Hand Volunteer program, you will become one of the dedicated individuals providing quality service and improving the quality of life in our community.   Share your time with us while making new friends, learning new skills, and having fun!

Let's Get Started


• Mail or drop off a completed volunteer application.
• Upon receipt of your application, we will send you a volunteer interest form.
• A criminal background check consent form will need to be filled out for any volunteer over the age of 18.
• Please complete and return both forms to the Butterfield Park District.
• Once the forms are processed, you will be able to start volunteering!
• You will be contacted with final details two weeks prior to the event/program you selected on your volunteer interest form.
• At the event/program, you will need to sign in with the recreation supervisor and sign out before you leave.
• You will lead activities with the participants and stay to help with cleanup.

Daddy Daughter Dance 

This event takes place in February. It is an exciting event that Dad’s and Daughters spend time together. We will need volunteers to serve desserts, assist in making fun and exciting crafts that the girls get to make, there will be fun games that we will need volunteers help with, at the conclusion of the event we will need volunteers assistance in cleaning up.

Breakfast with Bunny

This event takes place in late March or early April. Volunteers would assist with set-up and serving our delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, eggs, and more. We will have fun and exciting crafts that volunteers will help the participant make and take home. We will also have different games the volunteer will be playing with the participant. At the conclusion of the event volunteers will assist with cleaning up.

Dance Recital

This event takes place in April. Volunteers would assist with decorating the dance stage and assisting with setting up chairs, helping dance instructors by organizing the dancers to get ready to perform, and help clean up after the event is over.




Tropical Splash Bash

This event takes place at the end of June or July. If you enjoy being outside, come volunteer your time serving hot dogs, chips, and a drink to our summer camp families. You will be playing games with our camp kids and their families; we will have crafts for our creative campers to make with our volunteers. Before you leave, you will assist with cleaning up and putting supplies away.

Family Fun Fest

This event takes place in July. Families come out to enjoy a free day at the pool! Volunteers would help set up games and assist in crafts with the participants. Volunteers will assist with serving hot dogs, chips, and a drink to the families. There are plenty of items that will be raffled off to win that will need help collecting tickets and distributing prizes. Before you leave, you will assist with cleaning up and putting supplies away. 


 

Craftin' in the Fall

This event takes place in late September/early October. We are looking for volunteers who would assist in helping crafters bring in their items to sell, setting up tables, and assisting with cleaning up at the end of the event. During the craft fair volunteers would be able to Holiday shop as well. This event will take place all outside; please dress accordingly.


 

Polar Express AM

Who doesn't love holiday time and getting in the holiday spirit? Help us in early December to create a wonderful holiday event by becoming one of Santa’s Helpers on the train or at the North Pole! Volunteers help set up decorations and games. Join in the fun and help with serving of delicious breakfast! Crafts and games will be done with the participants throughout the day, as well as helping read books, sing, and more on the train ride to the North Pole! Located at Two Brothers Artisan Brewing The Roundhouse 205 N Broadway, Aurora, IL 60505.

Looking for volunteer opportunities? This event takes place in December. Volunteers would help set up and help serve a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, and eggs. Volunteers would assist in family photos, games, and crafts. Before leaving help clean up at the end of the event. 

Miscellaneous

Not sure what you want to help with, but you want to help, let us know as we continually have events that need volunteers!
