Special Events and Trips
The Butterfield Park District offers a variety of Special Events and Trips throughout the year. Many are long-standing traditions that help build the community and provide family-friendly fun for people of all ages. Check out all we have to offer below. Some of these events require pre-registration.
As weather grows cooler, come celebrate the season with Rudolph as we have our own North Pole Adventure. Drop in for a morning of games, crafts, and a delicious breakfast of pancakes, French toast, fruit and more! Santa and his elves are awaiting your arrival! This will be a holiday season to remember!
Dec 13 S 9:00am – 12:00pm $38 / $10 under 2

Drop in for an afternoon of games, crafts, and a delicious lunch of macaroni and cheese, pizza, chicken fingers, and more! Santa and his elves are awaiting your arrival! This will be a holiday season to remember!

For your safety the following modifications have been made to this program:
Breakfast - Pancakes and sausage (eggs, fruit) will be carry-out only and will be given at the end of the event.
Santa Visit - Virtual visits via the "Elf line" communications satellite video phone to the North Pole.
Pictures - A holiday scene will be set up to provide each family an opportunity to take their holiday photo.
Games - Each item used for each game will be sanitized after each use.
Staggered Start - Each group will start 20 minutes apart to provide physical distancing during the event.

Dads, Daughters, Desserts & Dancing. Get ready to spend a night with your 'Sweetheart.’ Come dressed for a night on the town and spend some time with your 'Best Gal.’ Dads, Uncles, Nieces, Grandfathers and Daughters will dance the night away, take photos, play bingo, create beautiful craft projects and enjoy delicious desserts. Join us for a night to remember!
Feb 5 F 6:30 - 8:30pm $35
Tired of the same old routine? Looking for a fun adventure just for mothers & sons? Come join us at the Fox Bowl in Wheaton for a night out with bowling and pizza on the menu. Come see who can have the most gutter balls, strikes and even a "Turkey" or 2. *Fee includes 2 games, shoe rental, pizza and drink. *Pre-registration is required.

You're never too old to go on a prize hunt. These prizes just happen to be hidden in eggs!! Get your weekend started off with an adventure. Bring your flashlight and basket to look for the hidden treasures of candy and toys. Find one of the special eggs and collect your grand prize basket. Arrive at 8:15pm for check-in and make sure to dress for the weather. **Parking available at Butterfield School and Hoffman Park

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in developing nations. Come join the Butterfield Park District as we have a great day while 'Giving Back' to others.

Come join the Butterfield Park District and check out the Chicago Auto Show! Transportation from the Park District to the Auto Show will be provided.
Feb 17 W 10:00am – 5:30pm $25
Come join the Butterfield Park District and check out Urban Air Adventure Park! Transportation from the Park District to the Park will be provided. Teens will be able to participate in the sky rider, ropes course, climbing walls, warrior course, drop zone, dodge ball, the basic trampoline, and much more! Sign up with your friends and have a blast!!

When Joy Morton established The Morton Arboretum in 1922 he envisioned a “great outdoor museum” of trees. Today, our living collections inspire visitors to appreciate, learn about, plant, and protect trees. The Arboretum champions the world’s trees through plant collections, science and conservation, education, and outreach. Spend a day appreciating the surroundings indoors and out. We’ll walk the nature trails and see the enjoyment that the grounds have to offer.

Tour the magnificent Rialto Square Theatre, often referred to as the 'Jewel of Joliet,’ and widely considered one of the 10 most beautiful theatres in the nation. The building reflects Greek, Roman and Byzantine architecture. While listening to a brief history of the theatre, you'll walk through the grand Esplanade and Rotunda to see the architecture and craftsmanship. Next is the stage and 'green room' where you will see 1000's of signatures from past artist.
May 11 Tu 10:00am - 4:00pm $45
Take a hands-on look at beautiful downtown Geneva and explore the historical architecture, unique stores, specialty food shops and so much more. We'll spend sometime at the Geneva Historical Museum before going on a guided Architectural Tour of several homes and buildings of the surrounding area. Lunch and shopping will conclude the day.
May 17 M 9:30am - 3:30pm $35
Cantigny is a 500-acre park in Wheaton, Illinois, 30 miles west of Chicago. It is the former estate of Joseph Medill and his grandson Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publishers of the Chicago Tribune. It is open to the public with interactive exhibits & displays presenting the military history of the First Infantry Division.
