GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
• Programs are located at Glenbriar Tennis and Pickleball Courts unless otherwise noted.
• Participants must provide their own racket or paddle.
• Makeup classes due to inclement weather are subject to court availability and instructor discretion.
• Class cancellation information is available on Rainout Line. Call 630.998.7499 for updates.
• Non-participants are asked to remain on the bleachers during programs.
Tots Tennis
New to Tennis? This class is for your child. The child will learn the fundamentals of the game of tennis; how to hold the racket, proper stance, hand eye-coordination, and footwork. The tennis ball that will be used is called the Red Ball. Classes are designed for children who are new to the game of tennis. The lighter low compression red ball is slightly larger and has 25% the bounce & weight of normal tennis ball. Please bring your own racket with you each class.
Ages: 4-6
Youth Tennis
New to Tennis? This class is for your child. The Butterfield Park District staff will help the child learn the fundamentals of the game of tennis; how to hold the racket, proper stance, hand eye-coordination, and footwork. Children will play with a low compression Orange Ball. Please bring your own racket with you each class.
Ages: 7-10
Teen Tennis
Beginner Teens will increase their net performance as they continue to learn tennis fundamentals. This class helps the participant enhance motor and racquet skills, while allowing them to enjoy the game. The instructor will incorporate fun and stimulating tennis games and activities throughout the lesson. Please bring your own racket with you each class.
Ages: 11-15
Adult Tennis
This player is a beginner or intermediate who is just starting to play tennis and learn the following fundamentals of tennis, how to hold the racket, grip the racket, footwork, forehand/backhand strokes, proper stance, service motion/toss, hand eye-coordination, volley/net play. The instructor will incorporate fun and stimulating tennis games and activities throughout the lesson. Please bring your own racket with you each class.

Adult Pickleball
If you are a fan of the popular game of pickleball or if you would like to learn how to play, this class is for you. In this class we will go over the rules, hitting techniques, and have lots of time to play games. This exciting game combines the thrill of tennis without the harsh movement and strain it puts on your body.

Tennis - JV/Varsity (12-18)
Junior Varsity (JV) is composed of high level JV and varsity players who are looking to refine their games and prepare for tennis beyond high school. Varsity players are tournament-level players looking to develop their games as they prepare for tennis in high school and beyond. The class time is divided into drills, game play, and match play. Ages 12+

Advanced Beginner Adult Tennis
Players for this class have previously attended tennis lessons or drills. They have a basic knowledge of the game and are looking to enhance their skill level.

Pickleball Drills
Come and learn the basics of one of the fastest growing sports in the US. Pickleball combines elements of tennis and badminton. This class will give instruction on the basic skills, rules, and game strategies that make pickleball so enjoyable.
Ages: 16+
High School Varsity Tennis
This class is designed for the players who are currently playing or planning on playing for their High School tennis team. The focus will be on skill development, match strategies, and enhancing a team mentality for the players.

COURT rules and regulations
1. Social distancing required: before and after play, players must maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from all others.
2. The use of face masks is required for all doubles match play.
3. Players are requested to observe tennis court courtesies as well as rules of good conduct on and around tennis courts.
4. All spectators and players waiting for a court must remain outside of the fence until a court becomes available and social distancing procedures must always be practiced.
5. Playing on the courts without tennis shoes is forbidden. A tennis shoe is a heel-less
rubber-soled shoe.
6. No bicycles, skateboards, roller-skates, rollerblades or pets are allowed on the courts.
7. Food and beverages are discouraged.
8. Two or more players are allowed up to one-half (1/2) hour (up to 2 hours for reservations) of court time for rallying or time enough for playing one set. All players must have a partner to use a court.
9. Whenever there are players waiting, all players must vacate courts after playing for one-half (1/2) hour (up to 2 hours for reservations) or one set. Winners shall have no prior rights to remain on the courts.
10. Players waiting to use a court must indicate in some clear way to those using the courts that they are waiting to use the court.
11. The Butterfield Park District shall have priority use for activities.
12. No individual, group, club, or organization shall occupy tennis courts for tournament play without written permission from the Butterfield Park District. Application must be made at least fourteen (14) days in advance of dates set for start of play.
13. Tennis court reservations shall not be permitted to individuals, groups, associations, clubs, or organizations desiring such use for “private gain”, which term is defined and
herein to mean use of the principal purpose of making a profit not pledged to be devoted to public uses.
14. Private lessons of any kind are not allowed unless authorized by the Butterfield Park District.
15. Courts cannot be used for alternative activities including off-leash dogs.
16. Please be vigilant in preventing the spread of germs by practicing good hygiene. If you or any member of your family are ill or become ill, you should remain home.
